Julianne received their Ph.D in mathematics education at the University of California Santa Cruz. Her research focuses on 1) supporting teachers of multilingual students in orchestrating productive mathematical discussions; 2) critical statistical literacy for all students, particularly those who have been minoritized and neglected in STEM classrooms; and 3) equity in mathematics education. She obtained her Masters in curriculum and instruction and multiple-subject teaching credential from San Jose State University and taught culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse 5th and 6th grade students. She is passionate about translating research for practitioners and uplifting the knowledge of students and teachers.
